Meet Nico & Maddox!
Meet eight-year-old Nico and six-year-old Maddox, two incredibly brave boys recently diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), a rare condition that affects the white matter of the brain. Despite being unable to walk or talk, their spirits shine brightly!
Nico and Maddox are lovable and full of joy. They delight in watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Monster’s Inc. movies, and they love listening to classic, upbeat nursery rhymes! However, their opportunities to experience the world beyond their home are limited due to the weight and difficulty of maneuvering their current wheelchairs.
Their heavy manual wheelchairs make it challenging for their devoted parents and caregivers to take them on simple outings. Lightweight, tilt-in-space wheelchairs would provide them with the mobility to enjoy everyday experiences like:
- A walk in the park
- Leisurely neighborhood strolls
- Visiting family and friends
- Attending important medical appointments
With your support, Nico and Maddox can gain the freedom to explore the world around them in comfort and ease. Your sponsorship will help provide them with the specialized wheelchairs they need to enhance their quality of life.
Your generosity can bring joy and mobility to these two wonderful boys. Help Nico and Maddox embrace life’s simple pleasures—become a sponsor today!
New Wheels, New Adventures: Nico & Maddox Enjoy Their Lightweight Tilt-in-Space Wheelchairs!
Exciting news! Nico and Maddox recently received their brand-new lightweight tilt-in-space wheelchairs, and their world has already expanded in ways we couldn’t have imagined. These specialized chairs provide the perfect balance of comfort, support, and maneuverability, making daily outings easier and more enjoyable for both the boys and their caregivers.
With their new wheelchairs, Nico and Maddox can now spend peaceful afternoons in their garden, soaking up the sunshine, listening to the birds, and feeling the fresh air on their faces. Walks around the neighborhood have also become a much more accessible and frequent activity, allowing them to explore their surroundings, greet friendly neighbors, and experience the simple joys of being outdoors.
For parents and caregivers, the transition from their previous heavy manual wheelchairs to these lightweight models has been life-changing. The ease of maneuverability means less strain and effort when pushing, turning, and transporting the boys. Whether it’s a quick trip to the park, a visit to a friend’s house, or even just moving around the home, these wheelchairs provide a much-needed sense of freedom and flexibility.
We are beyond grateful to the Amaturo Family Foundation for their generosity and support providing for this upgrade. We are excited to see how these wheelchairs continue to enhance Nico and Maddox’s daily experiences. Every child deserves the chance to explore, enjoy, and engage with the world around them, and these chairs are making that possible.
Here’s to more adventures, more smiles, and more independence for Nico and Maddox!
