Meet Enrique!
Enrique is a vibrant and joyful 15-year-old who brings light to everyone around him. Although he functions at an infant cognitive level and is 100% dependent for all daily activities, Enrique’s spirit shines through in his love for music, cartoons, and anything Star Wars. He is most content when surrounded by family, whether he’s enjoying music class, relaxing at the park or mall, or spending time in the pool. Mom describes him as: “most handsome,” “smart,” and “happy,” Enrique’s warmth and personality make a lasting impression on everyone he meets.
Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), Enrique faces significant physical and medical challenges, including being nonverbal and requiring a G-tube for all nutrition. His journey took a turn at age two when an accident involving a latex balloon led to oxygen deprivation, resulting in his current condition. Despite these difficulties, Enrique continues to thrive in the love and care of his family, who are dedicated to giving him every opportunity to enjoy life and stay engaged with the world around him.
One of Enrique’s current needs is a therapy trike, which would provide critical support for his physical well-being. This specialized equipment would help improve his leg flexibility and range of motion, support his digestive and pulmonary health, and encourage mobility, allowing him to explore his environment more fully. A therapy trike would not only contribute to Enrique’s health but also enrich his daily experiences, offering moments of joy, movement, and connection with his surroundings.
