Meet Emerson!
Meet Emerson! This tenacious little guy will be turning 3 in June. Emerson was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type I when he was just an infant. He spent most of the first year of his life in and out of the PICU and last summer he had a major spinal surgery. He is wheelchair dependent, however there is not much stopping this little dude from living his best life!
Emerson is an inquisitive little boy who loves to learn new things every day! He especially enjoys discovering information about space and the planets. Emerson is also a fan of sea life and his favorite place to visit is the aquarium. He spends most of his time outdoors, whether it’s riding his tricycle or searching for bugs and exploring nature! Emerson also loves the company of his two golden retrievers- Dolly and Daisy. Most importantly, Emerson is easy-going, and much like his favorite character Nemo from the hit movie Finding Nemo, he often “goes with the flow!”
Emerson received a new manual wheelchair. His current chair didn’t fit him properly or provide him the correct support he requires. His mom said of the new chair,
“Emerson is now able to move around the house, therapy, the hospital, and pretty much anywhere. For example, he was able to chase his cousins around Target yesterday. Literally the easiest and best experience. It was very simple and so rewarding! We are just so thankful for the opportunity to receive this wheelchair. Seeing Emerson able to interact with his environment means the world!”
