Meet 3-year-old Mason! Mason was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. He is unable to walk and depends on his loving mom for daily care. Despite the challenges he faces, Mason is a joyful, active little boy who brings light to everyone around him.
One of Mason’s favorite routines is going to Starbucks with his mom after physical therapy to get a croissant. He loves all kinds of music—anything with a good beat will get him moving—but his all-time favorite song is “The Gummy Bear Song.” When he’s not dancing or singing, you can find him watching Blippi on YouTube or snuggled up with Mom while she reads “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?”
Mason especially loves going to the zoo to visit the tigers and is known for his funny, mischievous personality and his love of blowing bubbles. He truly inspires everyone he meets and makes the world a better, brighter place.
Mason’s mom reached out to Wheelchairs 4 Kids for help getting a roll-in shower for her son. Bath time had become increasingly difficult and unsafe, as she had to lift and transfer Mason in and out of the bathtub. Mason cannot sit or stand on his own, and a roll-in shower would make bathing safer and easier for both him and his mom.
Wheelchairs 4 Kids contacted the amazing team at Well Driven Nails, who were excited to partner with us to make this happen. What initially seemed like a simple job quickly became more complex. Contractors Joe and Henry discovered they needed to reframe the existing shower and fully renovate both the shower and the bathroom flooring before they could properly install Mason’s ADA-compliant roll-in shower.
These incredible men went above and beyond, reaching out to one of their trusted vendors, Incredible Kitchen & Baths, who generously donated all the tile needed—not just for the shower, but for the entire bathroom floor.
There are no words to truly express our gratitude to the Dana Beck Fancher Mission, Well Driven Nails, and Incredible Kitchen & Baths for making this life-changing project possible for Mason and his family.
