Meet 12-year-old Nasir. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy when he was just 1 year old. He uses a wheelchair and depends on his family for his daily needs. While Nasir faces many challenges, he remains a cheerful, happy young man whose gentle spirit brightens every room.
Nasir has many interests that bring him joy. He is a huge music fan and loves listening to all genres, but his favorite song is Rihanna’s “Dancing in the Dark.” He’s a bright student who excels in science class and enjoys watching football and basketball with his family, always cheering on the Giants and the Knicks. Most of all, he adores his dog, Mystique, his loyal best friend. Though he is quiet and often prefers to stay in his own world, he inspires everyone around him with his peaceful nature and love of singing.
Right now, Nasir is in need of a bathroom modification. His current bathroom is far too narrow for safe access. Caregivers must lift him in and out of a traditional bathtub, a difficult process that often causes water to spill onto the floor and create a slippery, hazardous environment. This daily routine not only puts Nasir at risk but also places significant physical strain on his caregivers.
A roll-in shower would transform his bathroom into a safe, accessible space, greatly improving his comfort, safety, and overall quality of life.
