Meet Zayla!

Meet 8-year-old Zayla! This bubbly little girl can light up any room she enters! Zayla was born with a rare neurological disorder known as GRIN2B, caused by a mutated gene. Her disorder affects her muscle memory, causes seizures and developmental delays. Zayla is unable to walk without assistance and requires the use of AFOs and a manual wheelchair to get around.

Despite the challenges Zayla faces, she remains strong and keeps a smile on her face. She is a big of fan of Netflix star, Ms. Rachel and gets excited whenever she sings her favorite song, “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider.” She enjoys being read the Pete the Cat series and likes to cuddle up with her two bulldogs.  Trips to adaptive park, Morgan’s Wonderland are her favorite! She enjoys playing with sensory toys and balls that light up and sing. Above all, Zayla perseveres- although she is non-verbal, you can see how strong-willed she is, and that’s what makes her such an amazing kid!

Zayla is in need of a therapy bike. She loves being outdoors, and bike rides are a regular outing for her family. With her own therapy bike, she will be able to ride alongside them, while also increasing her muscle strength, coordination, and range of motion. Please consider being Zayla’s sponsor!
