Meet Benjamin!
Meet 8-year-old Benjamin! Ben is an intelligent and vivacious boy. When he was an infant he was diagnosed with a rare type of congenital muscular dystrophy known as LAMA 2, which causes increased muscle weakness. He is 100% dependent on others when it comes to movement. He is unable to walk without assistance and has little to no balance. He currently utilizes a stander and a manual wheelchair.
Despite Ben’s struggles, he remains optimistic and determined! He always pushes forward and tries to be as independent as he can. Ben is a fan of the children’s action hero show, PJ Masks. He also has a fascination for sea creatures, especially sharks! He loves reading and learning new facts about sea life and loves to visit the beach and Sea World. His other favorite place to visit is Target! Shopping trips with his family are a weekly outing he enjoys! Ben is happiest when he is outdoors- whether it’s a trip to the local park to swing on the swings or an afternoon by the pool, he thrives outside!
Ben needs a lightweight power wheelchair. His current power chair is extremely heavy and he is only able to access it at school.
