Meet 15-year-old MayLa, an incredible young lady who was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) secondary to Shaken Baby Syndrome when she was just 3 weeks old. While her prognosis was once uncertain, MayLa has spent her life proving that she is so much more than a diagnosis. Her strength, determination, and joyful spirit continue to inspire everyone around her.
MayLa is known for her amazing hugs—the kind that brighten your entire day. She loves musicals (especially Snow White), being outdoors, playing soccer, and cheering on her siblings at their sporting events. She’s a girl who knows exactly what she likes, and spicy Cheetos are definitely high on the list! Most of all, MayLa treasures spending quality time with her mom, especially during their special spa days together.
MayLa is in need of an adaptive therapy tricycle, which will allow her to continue important therapeutic activities at home while building strength, independence, and confidence.
Because of the incredible generosity of Burton Family Foundation, Community Foundation for Brevard, and the Kathy F. Lazar Fund of the Community Foundation for Brevard, MayLa has received a brand-new adaptive tricycle! This special gift will make a meaningful difference in her life, giving her the opportunity to ride alongside her siblings, create lasting memories, and enjoy new adventures with her family. Thank you for helping make moments like these possible!
