Wheelchairs 4 Kids proudly offers four programs that improve the lives of children with physical disabilities and their families.
All of these programs serve our community at no charge to our Wheel Kid families
Let’s Roll
Our flagship program, Let’s Roll provides wheelchairs, home and vehicle modifications, as well as other necessary medical equipment, that may otherwise be out of financial reach.
Many children with physical disabilities in the United States are in wheelchairs that are too small, in disrepair, and unfit for their needs. Just like children outgrow their shoes, they also outgrow their mobility equipment, often before government or insurance programs will allow for a replacement. Not only is it unsafe for a child to use inadequate equipment, but it can also negatively impact their health in numerous ways.
Additionally, families are often faced with trying to care for their special needs children in homes that have not been modified to meet their specific circumstances, or by using vehicles that are unable to transport their necessary medical equipment.
The Facilities program is a sub-program of Let’s Roll. Through this service, we donate gently used items from our equipment closet to schools, clinics, and other facilities where they can be used to benefit multiple children.
Once a child has received equipment through Let’s Roll, they become one of our fondly named “Wheel Kids,” which allows them to participate in our three other programs.
Thank you so much for your life changing gift for Gabriela. Gabriela is not able to speak, read, write, or walk, but thanks to you, she now has the ability to express herself through movement.
Gabriela’s frustration at not being able to communicate or move about on her own is evidenced daily through fits of anger, screaming, lashing out and crying.
When in the Up N Go, Gabriela’s smile, laughter, and shrieks of joy express her thanks at finally giving her a feeling of control. Words cannot express our gratitude for giving Gabriela a sense of pride, independence, and most of all joy.
–Marlene, Gabriela’s Mom
We just want to thank you for all your hard work, advocating for Trey and helping us get his first wheelchair. He is so happy!! Now he can go places that require a lot of walking and keep up with his friends. You helped us get exactly what he needed. Your communication is amazing. Everything happened in a quick manner. We can’t thank you enough for providing him with what our insurance refused to. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts.
–Danielle, Trey’s Mom
Receiving the necessary equipment to transport Leilany just made our lives so much easier, there is no way I can be grateful for everything provided by Wheelchair 4 Kids, they turned our family’s life 180 degrees and mainly Leilany’s.
Leilany’s face changed; she feels very happy that now we can go shopping and she can handle her chair. It [the vehicle lift] is something that we had really searched for for a long time and that we could not obtain. Not everyone has the financial capacity to be able to pay for an item like this, but there are still places where they think about our children, about the needs they have to be able to feel more independent.
–Keyna, Leilany’s Mom
We fought for over a year with insurance for an activity chair for our disabled toddler. After feeling defeated and trying every outlet possible God led us to this organization and within just a few months we were blessed with the activity chair we fought so hard for by this amazing organization. This chair has been a complete blessing and huge improvement to our daughter’s quality of life. The confidence and independence it has given her to flourish is priceless and we would not have this blessing if it wasn’t for the truly caring team at Wheelchairs 4 Kids.
–Amber, Melania’s Mom
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude to Wheelchairs 4 Kids for the incredible gift you provided to my son. Your organization’s generosity and commitment to making a difference have touched our hearts. We are truly grateful for the dedication and kindness you’ve shown. The newfound mobility and independence my son going to experience, especially when he is traveling, are priceless. Thank you once again for making such a meaningful impact on our lives. Your work is truly changing the world for the better, one wheelchair at a time.

Wheely Fun Days
Our Wheely Fun Days program focuses on inclusion and socialization by hosting confidence-building, accessible, and extraordinary experiences for our Wheel Kids. Children with physical disabilities are often left out of birthday parties, school trips, and other social events due to their accessibility needs. Wheely Fun Days give them and opportunity make connections with Wheel Kids just like them, as well as break the ice with their peers.
Our Wheel Kids go waterskiing, ziplining, and indoor skydiving. They attend Tampa Bay Buccaneers Training Camp, sled hockey clinics with the Lightning Community Hockey Development team, and live WWE events. They make memories that will last a lifetime at adaptive summer camps, Christmas parties, and Halloween festivals. We’ve even brought them downhill skiing in Colorado! No matter what event they’re attending, Wheely Fun Days give our Wheel Kids the opportunity to do what they do best – be kids!
What our families are saying about Wheely Fun Days:
There are so many times where you have to tell your disabled child no, we can’t do that. Disappointment becomes common place. But Wheelchairs 4 Kids takes all of that disappointment away. They find ways that every child, no matter the disability, can have an amazing experience that they so often see other able-bodied children getting to have. This program has brought a level of joy to my child that is immeasurable!
–Frank, Angelina’s Dad
Wheely Fun Days has created so many memories for our family! They have also given Noah and our family so many once in a lifetime memories and we will be forever grateful for Wheelchair4kids for giving Noah these opportunities! Our everyday has lots of medical appointments and needs and it’s such a breath of fresh air to be able to get away every so often and have fun in a safe, accepting environment! We love Wheelchairs 4 Kids and can never thank you all enough for what you have done for Noah and our family!
–Vanessa, Noah’s Mom
Wheely Fun Days have given Delaney the opportunity to participate in activities that I would not thought were possible and also given her activities that are catered for her needs and to be around other kids like her. They have also given me (as the parent) a supportive group of parents to network with.
–Pattie, Delaney’s Mom
Wheelchairs 4 Kids Scholarship
The Scholarship Program was established to address education and independence. Our Wheel Kids deserve the opportunity to grow, expand their world, and develop the tools they need to get good jobs. Wheelchairs 4 Kids’ Scholarship Program addresses this need by providing tuition assistance to Wheel Kids planning to pursue continued education or vocational training.
These Scholarships are named and granted in honor of four integral members of our team who we have lost: Lonnie Robinson (Founder), Lisa Schmidt (Director of Development), Chris Lehman (Feature Writer), Kimberly Knorr (Founding President).
Compassion Program
As we’ve grown, Wheelchairs 4 Kids has faced the reality of loss more each year, leading to the creation of our Compassion Program. It is heart-breaking when families who are experiencing the worst days of their lives reach out asking if we know anyone who can assist with final expenses. Our Compassion Program provides up to $1,000 toward these costs.
