Let’s go Sky Diving!!!

Once again, Tarpon Springs based charity, Wheelchairs 4 Kids has proven that children with disabilities have no limits!  Recently, the charity took 11 wheelchair bound children along with their siblings to iFly Tampa where the children were able to fly in a wind tunnel.

Before their flight, the children were given instructions on how to fly in the tunnel, then they all got suited up in their flight suits for the adventure of a lifetime.  One by one, the children were lifted from their wheelchairs and carried into the wind-tunnel to experience indoor sky diving.  The kids were treated to pizzas and soft drinks while trading stories of nerves in anticipation of this incredible experience and the thrills of actually experiencing it by those who had just tried it!  “It was awesome” was a common refrain!

Danyel Soyer, new Events coordinator for Wheelchairs 4 Kids, who organized the event stated, “”Seeing some of the kids smile for the first time while flying really made me tear up and I realized what we do here at Wheelchairs 4 Kids is all worth it”.

This event was sponsored by 11 year old, Jackson Hurst.  He raised the money with a birthday fundraiser.  Jackson is a big brother to a young girl who benefited from Wheelchairs 4 Kids several years ago.  Sadly, his sister passed away, but every year, he has raised money for Wheelchairs 4 Kids in her memory.
