Meet Alexander!

Alexander is a joyful 9-year-old who brings happiness wherever he goes. He loves the color red and enjoys watching Curious George—especially with his favorite stuffie by his side. Animated music videos also make him smile, and his teachers describe him as a very smart and happy boy who especially enjoys his water therapy sessions.

Alexander loves being out and about and is happiest when he can spend time playing with his sister. At the park, his family always makes sure he gets special time to play ball with her, which is his favorite activity. He also enjoys toys that light up and adores his mom’s home-cooked meals, especially malanga with chicken.

Although Alexander is 100% dependent for all activities of daily living, he communicates clearly with yes/no responses and expresses himself beautifully through his eyes and facial expressions. His mom describes him as happy, capable, and observant—words that perfectly capture his bright spirit and determination. Alexander has cerebral palsy with microcephaly due to his mom contracting the Zika virus early in pregnancy, and he currently needs a medical stroller, as his current wheelchair does not fit his needs and causes pain and discomfort.
