Meet Jhair!

Jhair is a loving, generous, and kind-hearted 14-year-old who brings warmth to those around him. He enjoys spending time at school with his friends, even though schoolwork can sometimes be a challenge. When he’s relaxing at home, you’ll find him playing video games or on his phone, listening to music, or watching his favorite zombie and scary movies. One of his most treasured belongings is a special necklace with a bear that was gifted to him on his birthday.
While many teens enjoy busy outings, Jhair prefers the comfort of home, where he feels most at ease. Over the past few years, life has changed significantly for him. After being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at just 7 years old, his strength has gradually declined, and he lost the ability to stand about three years ago. Despite these challenges, Jhair continues to show resilience, even as he faces moments of sadness and adjustment.
Jhair currently does not have a mobility device he can use outside of home or school, as his family is unable to transport his heavy power wheelchair in their vehicle. This greatly limits his independence, especially when attending doctor’s appointments or going out into the community. A lightweight power wheelchair would give Jhair the freedom to move more easily, regain a sense of independence, and improve his overall quality of life.
