Meet Kailebe!
Meet 13-year-old Kailebe! Kailebe is a caring, sensitive, and resilient young man who was diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy nearly four years ago. Despite the challenges he faces, he continues to approach life with determination and a kind heart while participating in research studies to help doctors better understand his condition.
Kailebe loves learning and enjoys watching educational videos on YouTube. His favorite subject in school is Spanish. He also enjoys playing video games, swimming, visiting nature areas with animals, and collecting coins, Pokémon cards, squishy fidgets, miniature ducks, and No. 2 pencils. His favorite animals are raccoons and turtles, and he loves his mom’s shrimp Alfredo pasta.
Kailebe received a vehicle modification to install a wheelchair lift on the back of his parents’ truck, providing safer and more accessible transportation for school, medical appointments, and community activities. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Gerner Family Charitable Foundation, Kailebe now has greater independence and the opportunity to participate more fully in the experiences and activities that are important to him.
