Meet Andrew!

Meet 15-year-old Andrew! Andrew was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is unable to walk without assistance. Duchenne’s is a progressive disorder which affects his muscles, and his independent mobility has become very limited. He currently uses a large, heavy power chair to get around.
Andrew is described as a thoughtful and courteous young man. He always thinks of others before himself. He has several fun interests including building LEGOs, coloring, painting, and swimming. He is a fan of Spiderman and the Marvel superheroes and enjoys listening to Spanish music. Andrew loves to move along to the beat of his favorite dancers, the Jabberwockeez! He embraces adventure and loves visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park and hopes to soon visit Universal’s Epic Universe! Above all, Andrew’s joyful and radiant personality shine through in all he sets out to accomplish!
Andrew received a Fold & GO Neudol lightweight power chair. His current chair is hard to transport, and it has been a struggle to get the chair in and out of his vehicle. A lighter chair will increase his independence in the community, as well as make it easier to participate in activities with his peers. Andrew was presented at the Dunedin Blue Jays stadium with his new chair, and he even got to throw out the first pitch of the game! His chair was generously sponsored by the Burton Family Foundation and Don and Lorraine Freeberg. Andrew hit a milestone for Wheelchairs 4 Kids as he became our 2,000th kid helped!
