Meet Demia!
Meet 8-year-old Demia! Demia had several complications at birth, including seizures. She spent 7 months in the NICU and endured several surgeries including the insertion of a VP shunt. A few years later, due to being developmentally delayed and not meeting typical milestones, she was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. She is also legally blind. Demia is 100% dependent on others for all daily life activities.
Despite Demia’s challenges, she remains a resilient and loving young lady. She is a fan of the popular children’s shows Peppa Pig and Bluey. Listening to her favorite children’s songs, such as “The Wheels on the Bus,” always puts a smile on her face. Whether it is the simplicity of going for a car ride or swinging on a swing in her local park, Demia remains content. Demia is an inspiration to not only her mother, but to all she comes in contact with- she is a fighter who never complains and always tries her best to move forward and beat the odds.
