Meet 11-year-old Efrain! Efrain suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a rare genetic disorder that causes muscles to become weak and the muscles to atrophy over time. Efrain relies on a wheelchair for his daily mobility.
Efrain recently embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Colorado with Wheelchairs 4 Kids. He was able to experience adaptive skiing on the slopes of Colorado along with his family. When Efrain is not on the slopes he enjoys building his Legos – which include Star Wars and Formula One, playing Fortnight and watching Mario. He also loves Mexican food and shrimp.
Due to his declining condition, Efrain is experiencing significant fatigue while using a manual wheelchair, making it increasingly difficult to maintain mobility.
Due to the generosity of The Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen Foundation, Efrain is now smiling from ear-to-ear in his new Air Hawk powerchair that allows him to go the distance!
