Meet Elijah! He is the cutest and kindest 6-year-old boy you’ll ever meet. Just months after birth, Elijah was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. This affects his day-to-day life – including his muscle tone, ability to walk, and his overall quality of life. Despite these challenges, Elijah is incredibly determined and works so hard in PT to improve his mobility and fine motor skills.
Elijah has an older therapy bike that he’s outgrown, but that never stopped him from loving every minute he spent riding it around the neighborhood with his brother and parents. When he’s not outside, he enjoys watching Mark Rober’s science videos on YouTube, building with Legos, and coming up with fun projects to take on with his brother. Although, the thing he might love most is baseball—especially cheering on his favorite team, the Tampa Bay Rays!
Elijah has outgrown his previous bike and was in need of a new therapy bike to continue his physical therapy journey. By sponsoring Elijah, supporters give him the opportunity to keep building his mobility while also helping him gain greater independence and a sense of inclusion.
Thanks to the generous support of The Florida Kiwanis Division 13 Council, Elijah has received a new therapy trike. He can now enjoy riding bikes alongside his friends and family—creating joyful memories while growing stronger every day.
