Meet Ely’Anna!
Meet 3-year-old Ely’Anna! Ely’Anna was diagnosed with a rare neurodevelopmental disorder known as Bosch-Boonstra-Schaff Optic Atrophy, or NR2F1. There are only 250 known cases of her condition. It affects her optic nerve, and she has no peripheral vision, which causes her to trip easily and affects her balance. She has low muscle tone and is unable to stand or walk without assistance. NR2F1 also causes developmental delays and seizures.
Despite Ely’Anna’s hardships, she has a joyful and endearing spirit. She loves watching popular YouTube sensation, Ms. Rachel, and gets most excited when she hears her favorite songs, “The Wheels on the Bus” and “Hop Little Bunnies.” A stroll through the park or swinging outside enjoying the fresh air are among her most enjoyable activities, but swimming and being in water is where she is happiest! Young Ely’Anna is strong-willed and doesn’t let her disability deter her. She always tries her best, even if it is difficult to succeed!
Ely’Anna received a Rifton therapy bike. The bike will help improve her muscle tone while also providing her with the confidence to reach her goal of someday walking without assistance. She will also be able to participate in a fun activity with her peers now. Special thanks to Michele and Pedro Lopez for being her sponsors!
