Meet Quinn! Quinn is a joyful 20-year-old with PACS-1 (Schuur-Hoeijmakers Syndrome) as well as a seizure disorder. Although he faces daily challenges with mobility and understanding complex language, he communicates with warmth and exuberance. With the selfless dedication of his parents and their devoting support of homeschooling, Quinn went from being nonverbal at age 3 to finding his voice by age 4. That milestone has continued to shine through in everything he does. While Quinn can sit up, hold up his head, and propel his wheelchair, walking has become harder over time as his feet continue to change in shape.

Quinn is kind and silly, with the most contagious smile. He loves acting, singing, books, and music – especially Laurie Berkner, and 70’s soft rock. His favorite movies are Stuart Little, The Wizard of Oz, and The Sound of Music. Quinn’s happiest moments are spent at home surrounded by his family and friends. Quinn’s most favorite thing to do is to make people smile while spreading happiness and making connections with anyone he can.

Quinn received a therapy bike to help him stay strong, support his mobility, and give him a safe, fun way to stay active as walking becomes more difficult. Thanks to the support from a very generous sponsor, Quinn now can enjoy his independence, strengthen his confidence, all while nurturing the joy that fuels his spirit. In turn, he has been given the opportunity to continue moving forward with an even bigger, brighter smile!
