Meet Joanna!

Meet 18-year-old Joanna. Joanna was diagnosed at birth with spina bifida and shortly after with cerebral palsy. She has endured several surgeries, has scoliosis and presents left side weakness. She is unable to walk without assistance and is wheelchair bound.
Despite Joanna’s challenges, she remains an amazing team player who rarely complains. She is a fan of gospel and worship music and her favorite singer is Christian artist, Averly Morillo. Joanna is a “girly girl” who enjoys shopping, listening to music, and going on outings with her church youth group. She has a collection of bracelets and accessories, and can often be found with a bow in her hair! Joanna is described as “a light,” and she brings happiness to all she meets!
Joanna has received a lightweight Convaid manual wheelchair. Her current power wheelchair is too heavy to be transported in and out of her vehicle. She was using a loaner manual chair, but it did not provide her with the proper support she requires. This new chair provides her with more accessibility in her community. Special thanks to an anonymous donor, Joanna now has the chair she requires for comfort and stability!
