Meet Joseph!

Meet 12-year-old Joseph. Joseph has a neurodevelopmental disorder where he has an extra gene located on his X chromosome known as MECP2 duplication syndrome. Joseph was able to walk independently up until about 2 years ago, where his gross motor skills began regressing. He utilizes a gait trainer, stander and the use of AFOs for assistance. Joseph also has a seizure disorder.

Joseph is a thoughtful and curious young man. While he is mostly a homebody, he does enjoy visits to his family’s lake house as well as walks to his neighborhood park where relaxing moments on the swings calm him. Classic children’s shows, such as The Magic School Bus and Clifford the Big Red Dog are some of Joseph’s favorites. He is a bookworm as well, particularly enjoying stories by Dr. Suess. Joseph can be shy at first, but once he warms up to you, he will become your best friend!

Joseph is in need of a therapy bike. This bike will allow him to participate in a fun cardiovascular activity while also strengthening his leg muscles and providing him with a sense of independence. Please be his sponsor.
