Meet Liam!

Meet 8-year-old Liam! Liam’s mom suffered several complications during pregnancy and Liam was born pre-maturely. He lacked oxygen to his brain and required an open-heart surgery at only 4 days old. He spent several weeks in the NICU. When he was two years old, he was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy and a rare genetic disorder. He utilizes a gait trainer and a wheelchair for distance. In a few years, he will require an additional open-heart surgery.

Despite Liam’s challenges, he remains a sweet and endearing boy. He is a fan of all things Disney, especially the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Moana. Liam enjoys frequenting the Orlando area theme parks, especially Universal Studios (for the rides!) and Magic Kingdom (for the characters and parades!). He loves being outdoors and if the weather is cool enough, he likes to go on walks in his neighborhood. Liam has been through so much in his short life, but he’s a survivor and doesn’t let anything get in his way of accomplishing big dreams!

Liam received a Rifton therapy bike. This bike will provide him with exercise while also helping to increase his endurance, leg strength, and coordination. Special thanks to Athletes Helping Athletes for their sponsorship for Liam’s bike. His mom said, “You have no idea what a blessing this is to our family. Liam can’t stop riding around the block and smiling the entire time!”
