Meet 14-Year-Old Mackenzie! Mackenzie is a happy, cuddly and expressive girl who is diagnosed with SCN2A Mutation and Ohtahara Syndrome. SCN2A Mutation causes a range of neurological conditions including movement disorders. Ohtahara Syndrome is a seizure disorder that occurs from birth and can become resistant to medications.
Despite these challenges, Mackenzie is frequently seen with a smile! She loves to listen to country music, including Taylor Swift. She enjoys watching Disney movies; her two favorites are Moana and Frozen. Her favorite activity is listening to audio books – Pete The Cat or Amelia Bedelia.
Mackenzie currently relies on a manual wheelchair since she cannot walk. She has outgrown her current manual wheelchair which allows her to comfortably travel when she goes to school or her medical appointments.
