Meet Nova!
Meet 4-year-old Nova! Nova wasn’t meeting her typical baby milestones, and doctors originally thought she had cerebral palsy, until they proceeded with genetic testing and results showed she has Angelman syndrome. Angelman syndrome causes developmental delays, speech and mobility issues, and seizures. While Nova’s seizures are currently controlled, when she is sick, they heighten into grand mal seizures. Nova is unable to walk unassisted and uses a walker at home to get around.
Despite Nova’s challenges, her sunny disposition makes her a loveable and kind little girl. She loves the popular YouTube series, Ms. Rachel, and enjoys listening to children’s songs such as “The Wheels on the Bus.” Nova’s favorite activities include swinging on swings, swimming, and going on walks. Pool time and playground time are when she is happiest! She is a tenacious young lady who never gives up- and we will never give up on her either!
Nova received a Rifton therapy trike. This trike will help improve her muscle tone and coordination, while also providing her with a fun outdoor activity. Special thanks to Tim Hines from the Morris and Hines Family Fund for being her generous sponsor!
