Grand Theft – Golden Scallop Monument
At the stroke of midnight on June 1, Mike Wells allegedly boarded a flats boat in a bigfoot costume and made his way across Miller’s Bayou to Pasco’s prized, golden scallop monument. Neighbors said he wrestled the ornate piece of history from its pedestal and headed out to the moonlit waters of the Gulf. Just two days later, a strikingly similar gold piece was listed for auction in Key West by a seller known only as “The Appraiser.” The seller claimed all auction proceeds were to benefit children in need.
Mike Wells has dedicated his entire public service career to creating a bright future for Pasco and its residents, and is proud to serve as Property Appraiser for one of Florida’s fastest-growing counties. As a former Pasco County Commissioner, Mike worked to balance budgets, keep taxes low, and prioritize public safety. Mike is actively involved in charitable organizations such as the YMCA, United Way, and Feeding Pasco’s Elderly, as well as fundriasing efforts to provide for local students and neighbors in need.
Help Mike raise funds for Wheelchairs 4 Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical disabilities. Make a donation to his campaign to help this criminally-good felon make his bail!
