Wheelchairs 4 Kids presents Genesis with a Dynamic Mobile Stander!

Palm Harbor, FL – On October 6th, Wheelchairs 4 Kids presented Genesis with a Stander during A Wheely Good Time event!

Genesis is a vivacious 12-year-old with a “nothing can stop me” attitude!  She is a huge animal lover and raised her own money to go to the humane Society’s Critter Camp last year by training her neighbor’s dogs!  Her favorite colors are pink and purple and she loves shopping at Claire’s for earrings and bracelets.  She also loves music.  Her favorite artists range from Beyonce to Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery of American Idol fame.

Genesis was born with spina bifida, a birth defect in which the bones of the spine (vertebrae) do not form properly around the spinal cord.  She is confined to a wheelchair and longs for a stander so that she will be upright with her peers and be able to stretch and strengthen her muscles.  She also wants to play tennis and walk her dog with it.

Genesis tried her new mobile stander for the first time at our “Wheely Good Time” event.  “It is an amazing gift”, stated her mom who went on to tell the crowd about the difficulties the families of disabled children face just trying to get the equipment their children need.

The stander allows Genesis to be in a standing position and at eye level with her peers.  She was so excited that she even joined the crowd on the dance floor for a little line dancing! Genesis is looking forward to being able to participate in tennis and bowling, and looks forward to being able to walk her dog!

Thanks to the citizens of Oldsmar and The Mud Endeavor for sponsoring Genesis’ new equipment!
