Jose’s Story!

Jose desperately needed a stander to help with his therapy. With the help of the Perrine-Cutler Ridge Rotary Foundation, Inc. we were able to get him and EasyStand Evolv! The adaptive equipment is promoting endurance and strength in his legs so that he might be able to walk again someday soon.

Jose is a 13 year-old boy who has a traumatic brain injury as a result of a horrible accident in which a gun was shot in the air and the bullet came down striking Jose. The end result is Jose suffering from severe brain damage and many obstacles. He is cognitively challenged and lacks any independent mobility. He uses, but cannot himself maneuver, a wheelchair. These circumstances changed Jose’s life, but within him remains a boy’s heart.

Many young teenagers like a good action movie. Jose is no exception and his choice film is The Fast and the Furious, starring his favorite actor Vin Diesel. Music, however, is Jose’s hobby. The group that gets his head moving is the electrifying Latin sensation Wisin & Yandel. Yet movies and music do not compare to the joyful bond between Jose and his mom. They are the best of friends strengthened after the worst of tragedies.
