Meet Marimar!
Meet 20-year-old Marimar. She was diagnosed with a severe form of cerebral palsy known as Lennox Gastout. She has numerous frustrating challenges. Marimar is cognitively equivalent to an infant. She is also nonverbal. She has other effects of her illness, but her happiness is not hindered.
Marimar has as much fun as possible—she deserves it, too! She likes the movie Rio. The film is about an adorable talking parrot, which always grabs Marimar’s attention and makes her smile. She also listens to latin music. Marimar’s nurse played children’s music for the little girl, but she did not respond. The nurse then turned on a latin song and Marimar became excited and wanted to hear more. She even enjoys going to school. Marimar’s favorite activity, however, is taking an early morning stroll and being outside. She went to the zoo one day, and felt great the entire time looking at the animals and soaking in the sunshine. Marimar is a sweetheart; We are blessed to have her in our lives.
Marimar received a Convaid travel stroller to help make transportation easier, safer, and more comfortable. Her manual wheelchair is very big and heavy. Her family does not own a vehicle. Many times Marimar had to stay home with her care taker and miss out on family activities just because there was no way to transport her chair. This travel wheelchair conveniently folds like a stroller making transportation much easier. A couple of days after receiving the stroller Marimar was out at the zoo!
