Meet Delaney!

Delaney is the happiest little 5-year-old girl you will ever meet.  She is a little daredevil who loves to go as high as possible on the park swings.  She also enjoys rock and roll music and wearing anything pink.  Her favorite activity is attending the Tampa Bay Rays games!  She is their number one fan!

Delaney was born with a rare condition called Type One Fiber Disproportion, a congenital myopathy.  It is one of the diseases that falls under the muscular dystrophy umbrella.  There is currently no cure or effective treatment.  Delaney has several seizures daily, is unable to walk, and is nonverbal.  She also experiences respiratory problems and uses a feeding tube for nutrition.  She spent the first year of her life in the hospital and her parents were told to
prepare for the worst.  But Delaney is a fighter and she has defied all the odds.  She is doing great with the help of her therapists and is now able to sit up on her own and even uses flash cards!

Delaney is growing and it is becoming difficult for her parents and grandparents (who play a major role in her progress) to transport her in the minivan they currently own.  Wheelchairs 4 Kids is hoping to be able to provide the family with a vehicle modification.
