Meet Desirae!

Meet 12-year-old Desirae. She was born premature and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She also endures the complications of developmental delay. Desirae has several challenges resulting from her conditions. She is cognitively equivalent to a three-year-old child. Desirae necessarily uses a tube for nourishment, although she is slowly beginning to eat solid foods. She is mostly nonverbal.  Furthermore, the brave girl unwaveringly tries using her walker, but she needs her wheelchair for day-to-day mobility. She currently is recovering from leg surgeries in August. Desirae, even with her illness, is cheerful and upbeat.

Desirae likes variety. Her favorite movies are Frozen and Coco. She listens to Latin music with her mom. Desirae’s favorite artist, however, is Bruno Mars; she even claps her hands and shakes her shoulders to his music. She enjoys P.E. in school and likes throwing the ball to her classmates. The most important thing about Desirae is not what she gets from having fun, but what she gives for being kind. Hugs and kisses; she deals these out, not in spades, but in hearts.

Desirae needs a therapy tricycle to improve her leg strength, stamina, and balance. The trike will also someday make using her walker easier. Please be her sponsor!
