Meet Anneliese!
Meet 14-year-old Anneliese, who tragically suffered from a stroke before birth. She was diagnosed shortly afterward with cerebral palsy. Anneliese, because of the illness, is cognitively challenged and nonverbal. She has learned to communicate with her eyes and by making signs and gestures. She is not able to walk but has independent mobility by scooting around on the floor. Anneliese is a happy little ray of sunshine despite her trials.
Anneliese has a variety of interests, but the one common theme is Disney. She watches Mickey Mouse Club House. She has a fascination with marine life and this means her favorite films are The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dori. She always has a huge smile whenever visiting Magic Kingdom and Epcot—her favorite rides, of course, include The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo. If Anneliese could choose to be any animal, she would certainly pick being a fish that travels in the vastness of the ocean. Anneliese, however, is thrilled by swimming in a pool where her legs feel weightless, painless, and are free to move without any struggle. Anneliese, most importantly, is described by her family as a treasured angel. She is a brave little girl who has endured much strife but shows an even greater strength to endure. Anneliese, similar to Nemo, never gives in to her disability. She is our inspiration.
Anneliese needs an adaptive tricycle to improve her leg strength, stamina, and balance. She will also have a great time riding the trike while getting the necessary exercise. Please be her sponsor!
