Meet 16 year-old Dianeliz. This young lady has many diagnoses, including hydrocephalus and scoliosis.
Dianeliz was able to walk until she had a stroke when she was 2 ½ years old. The stroke caused her to lose muscle strength on her left side and she began needing assistance to get around. In the last few years she has broken her foot twice when standing up with assistance and has been in a cast for the last 4 months due to the most recent break. While Dianeliz has devastating diagnoses, these don’t compare to her worst tragedy: her mom’s passing. Dianeliz’s guardian is now her grandmother, who is doing everything in her power to make sure Dianeliz receives the care she needs. Although Dianeliz has experienced serious tragedy, she is described as a joyful warrior.
Dianeliz engages in many fun activities which show her resolve to be positive. She enjoys looking at an illustrated Bible and listening to grandma read the passages. She also likes exciting hip-hop and salsa music; however, her favorite songs are uplifting church songs. She gets inspired when hearing “How Great Is My God” and “Shake the Devil Off.”
Dianeliz, more importantly, is a source of inspiration for her grandmother. This young girl sets an example by always smiling and being courageous when the day creates the biggest hardships. She exemplifies the best way to live.
Dianeliz needs a wheelchair lift for the family vehicle. Her chair is too heavy to put into the car and she currently cannot get around town with safety and comfort. Please help her soon!
