Wheelchairs 4 Kids and the Elks get Gabby Walking!

Gabriella is an adorable 8 year old little girl.  Her mom describes her as happy, lovely and big!  She enjoys being outside and going for walks around her neighborhood on the special bicycle her parents pull her on.

Gabriella was born with Cerebral Palsy and Von Willebrand disease.  She is unable to speak or walk, but that is about to change thanks to Wheelchairs 4 Kids and the Miami Elks Lodge #948 and the South Dade Elks Lodge #2870 .

Wheelchairs 4 Kids recently dropped by Miami Childrens Hospital’s physical therapy department to deliver a brand new Up N Go gait trainer which will help strengthen her legs and mobility. The potential to increase Gabriela’s independence and safety cannot be overstated. The gait trainer will not only improve her physical abilities, but greatly enhance her quality of life!  Please take a moment to watch the video below as Gabby takes her first steps in her new gait trainer.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is proud to be able to help one child at a time.  Would your organization or business like to sponsor a child?  Or perhaps you’d like to make an individual gift.  Every donation helps us help more kids like Gabriella.

Dear Madeline and Wheelchairs 4 Kids,

Thank you so much for your life changing gift for Gabriela. Gabriela is not able to speak, read, write, or walk, but thanks to you, she now has the ability to express herself through movement. The Up N Go gives Gabriella the ability to be upright and work her muscles, and with God’s good will, she will one day gain enough strength to walk. Without your generous gift, Gabriella would have continued to be confined to a sedentary life devoid of all hope of ever gaining the strength and practice needed to be ambulatory. Gabriella’s frustration at not being able to communicate or move about on her own is evidenced daily through fits of anger, screaming, lashing out and crying. When in the Up N Go, Gabriella’s smile, laughter, and shrieks of joy express her thanks at finally giving her a feeling of control. Words cannot express our gratitude for giving Gabriella a sense of pride, independence, and most of all joy. Every time I see my little girl upright and squealing with delight, tears of joy stream uncontrollably down my cheeks. If Gabriella could talk, she would join me in saying “”May God bless you for giving us such immense joy. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts”.

With immeasurable gratitude,

Marlene and Gabriella Perez
