Heidi gets a Panthera wheelchair!

Heidi needed a lightweight wheelchair to improve her independence. This little ray of sunshine was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Type I. The disease can harshly affect nerve cells, causing a variety of frustrations.  Although faced with many obsatacles, nothing deters this child from being joyful.

2 ½-year-old Heidi is described by her family as clever and tenacious. Heidi enjoys watching Curious George and listening to nursery rhymes. She also likes hearing a good book, especially the bedtime story Goodnight Moon. Considering what Heidi endures each day, giving her a bit of happiness is everyone’s pleasure.

Her mother tells us that she is absolutely loving her new Panthera Micro.  With this extremely lightweight chair, Heidi is able to propel herself in the direction she chooses. Heidi was so happy to roll up to the keyboard of her piano, and start banging on the keys like any normal kid! She will have so much more freedom of movement now, and for that we are grateful!
